The structure of the magnetic lining board is divided into two types: one is relying on the magnetic force of the electric magnet to protect the original lining board; the other one is relying on the magnetic material to produce magnetic lining board in order to form a automatic and renewable dynamic protective layer on the internal wall of the cylinder, which has been successfully applied in many ball mills.

The development course of the magnetic lining board in foreign countries: In the 1970s, the researchers of the United States and Norway proposed the idea of using magnetic lining board to protect the ball mill cylinder and the chute. In the 1980s, Swedish people put up with eight practical magnetic lining board structures. In the earlier stage of the 1990s, in some countries and areas such as Canada, USA, South continent and Africa, the magnetic lining board was widely used.

The development history of the domestic magnetic lining board: The research and development of the magnetic lining board in our country began in the late 1980s and the research institutes are Beijing Mining and Metallurgy Research Center, Shenyang Guangda Science and Technology Research Institution, Changsha Mining and Metallurgy Research Institute and Anshan Mining Designing Institute. Among them, the magnetic lining board researched and manufactured by Beijing Mining and Metallurgy Research Center was relatively mature; for example, the HM whole set magnetic lining board applied in ball mill of the Balshan Iron and Steel Plant is a big breakthrough in the application of the magnetic lining board. This kind of lining board is not only the largest ball mill magnetic lining board, but signifies that domestic magnetic lining board firstly realizes comprehensive magnetism of the large grinder lining board. However, the magnetic lining board researched by other research institutes can only be used in the cylinder of the grinding mill and be limited in the medium and small-sized secondary ball mill whose diameter is below 3.2m.

With the constant development of science and technology and the research of more advanced technologies, the structure and function of the magnetic lining board will become more mature, and its application will become wider and wider so that it will bring more economic benefits to the ore beneficiation plants.
